Bert Tatchell's Carpentry Tools
Bertram George Charles Tatchell was born in England and apprenticed as a carpenter and joiner. He came to Canada in 1907 and arrived in Quesnel in 1909, having walked from Ashcroft. He preempted land in the Dragon Lake area and had a workshop on McLean St., where the Billy Barker Hotel is now. He built coffins, many of Quesnel's early wooden sidewalks and some of the finer houses in the district including the Allison, Leonard and Yorston homes. Bert Tatchell died in 1966 at the age of 83. His tool chest contains just under 50 different hand tools.
