George Baillie arrived in Lytton with stops first in Camerontown where as well as mining he played the violin. He purchased the hotel built originally by William McWha in 1868 and named it the Baillie Hotel. In addition he also owned a saloon and dance hall in Lillooet both of which ran successfully until his death in 1887. The hotel was rebuilt and renamed the Lytton Hotel sometime around 1912.
