Pemberton

Pemberton is located at the head of Lillooet Lake and was the jumping off point for the rest of the journey over the mountains. As an agricultural area it had a great advantage both for supplying the travellers who used the route but also for some of the initial supply into the Cariboo gold fields.

It was a healthy community for far longer than the brief glory of the Harrison trail as it was able to continue to supply produce to a number of minor but significant gold rushes and then profit from futher rail building as the century grew to a close.
