Some of Fraser's Crew

Fraser’s 24-man crew included 19 voyageurs (one of whom was Jean-Baptiste Boucher), 2 First Nations men and two clerks—John Stuart and Jules Quesnel. The two canoes they used were called Perseverance and Discovery and needed many repairs as the journey progressed. The men stopped for one night at the end of May in 1808 on the shores of the Fraser near what was later the city of Quesnel, and then pushed off down the river the next day still yet unaware of the terrible rapids that were to come.
